When it comes to cooking, having the right cutting board is just as important as having a good knife. Not only is this the right cutting board, but it is also sexy as hell. Designed by Henk Schiffmacher himself.

BUTCHER’S CHOPPING BLOCK

This is a cutting board you would find at a butcher. That is no coincidence – Henk is the son of a butcher. As a kid, he would stand behind the chopping block with his grandfather separating the bones from large pieces of meat. “Sometimes he would chop up a beautiful piece of steak and we would eat it on the spot with some pepper and salt”.

DOTTED LINE

The iconic dotted line with “cut here” on the cutting board originates from prison. France still executed criminals by the guillotine up until 1940. “Prisoners tattooed this cutting line on their necks as a reminder for the executioner”.

TREAT HER RIGHT

It is important to treat your cutting board with the love it deserves. Wash it by hand with mild soap, and rinse and dry it immediately. Treat it every one to two months with some mineral oil. And don’t dare to put it in the dishwasher...
